Learn how easy it is to ferment veggies to preserve the best of the season’s produce, minimise waste and enjoy many health benefits.
The class will include background about the history of fermentation, recent research into health benefits of eating fermented foods, the role of gut health in our overall wellbeing, and lots of tips to make it easy for first-time fermenters to get started.
You will make two different types of ferments to take home: a mixed vegetable ferment and a colourful version of sauerkraut.
Slow Food will provide a range of pre-made ferments for you to nibble during the evening.
Please bring along 2 x 400–500ml empty, clean jars and their lids to make your ferments. This is the usual size of peanut butter, jam and mayonnaise jars.
